Family Session at Makua Beach, Oahu

The world is so small, and I’ve been so lucky to connect with so many families traveling to Hawaii! Like this fun family of five below. They hail from Minnesota (like me, yay!) and came to Oahu for a vacation to escape the cold Midwest winter. They were searching for an Oahu family photographer to document their time here, and I’m so glad they picked me to capture their beautiful little family!

We trekked all the way out to one of my favorite beaches on the west side of the island, Makua. (Thanks, guys! I’m sure no easy feat with three children!) I love Makua because it’s surrounded by gorgeous green mountains on all sides. And, because it’s so far away, it’s practically empty, especially by sunset. We had a beautiful evening with a warm glowing light. After a little bit of a rough start (waking up from a nap to start a photo shoot is always tough on kiddos! :p), the kids warmed up and brought their A game with plenty of smiles, hugs, and frolicking in the waves. I mean, how sweet are these cute kiddos?!
