North Shore Surf Session with Natalie & Nick

North Shore Surf Photography Session

Gahhhh! I’m so excited to share this epic surf session with Natalie & Nick! Natalie and Nick are Oahu locals who live in Kailua and love to surf. We wanted their session to reflect their love for surfing, nature, and the beauty of Hawaii. Also, Natalie got a new board shortly before this session and she was dying to show it off!

For the location, we actually chose a non-surf spot with calm water, so I would be able to get into the water with them, without an underwater camera housing and/or getting pummeled by waves! We also wanted some jungle vibes, so this secluded little cove on the far reaches of the north shore, was the perfect mix of water and jungle. We began on dry land, showing off their boards, where Natalie wore a necklace lei from Pua Hana. The lei in her hair, (known as a lei po’o), was actually made by me! Creating florals is something I do for fun, usually for gifts for friends and family, and I love this little creative outlet. I had a vision for Natalie’s lei po’o, and it was so satisfying to be able to craft it myself with foraged flowers and greenery from my neighborhood (and a few added focal-piece florals, also from Pua Hana).

Then, as sunset neared, it was time to hop in the water for a few shots. Natalie and Nick cozied up and embraced the calm and serene water. I even flew by drone for a few shots. Natalie and Nick, thank you for the amazing session!
