Oahu Elopement at Makapu’u Lookout

You know what I love just as much as a big fancy wedding, or a small, intimate affair with your closest family and friends? An elopement! And, Oahu (or any of the Hawaiian Islands) is the perfect place to run away! Water in every shade of blue? Pristine beaches (seriously there are so many beautiful beaches on Oahu) with epic green mountain backdrops? The prettiest cliffs and lookouts? Crazy, insane hikes for the adventurous at heart? Hawaii has it all!

The great thing about an elopement is that it’s all about the two of you. And, a built in vacation! I’ve been a part of some incredible elopements over the years, like Capri, Italy, and New Orleans to name a few, and all that one on one time with the couple equals lots of intimate photos and really, really incredible photos.

Ask anyone who’s been married – they’ll tell you the day passes by in a heartbeat, or that they barely got time to even see their new spouse. I mean, you’re not only getting married, you’re also hosting a party – perhaps the biggest one of your lives. It’s a blur of hugs, happy tears, and lots of loved ones to spend time with. It’ll be the best day ever, but I promise you’ll blink and it’s over.

So, whenever I get a chance to photograph an elopement, I get super giddy. It’s a photographer’s dream with lots of time to play and have fun with the couple!

Payton & Aaron got up before the sun, for a beautiful session and sunrise at Makapu’u Lookout. It happened to be a super windy morning, but they laughed and embraced through it all and I could feel the love between these two wonderful humans.
