The Kawahara Family | Makapu’u Beach

OAHU BEACH FAMILY SESSION

Meet the adorable Kawahara Family! Megan reached out when planning a vacation here on Oahu. Her family traveled from San Jose, California and were looking for a film photographer to capture the memories of their travels and adventures in Hawaii. Megan is a photographer herself, and it’s always humbling to get inquiries from other industry friends. Megan is super talented, and I love her light, bright, and carefree style. I knew we would be a perfect match and I was so excited when she officially chose me as their family photog!

After some discussion about all the amazing options here on Oahu, we chose gorgeous Makapu’u Beach for their session. Makapu’u, on the windward side of Oahu, is one of my favorite places to shoot. It’s usually slightly overcast with soft light at sunset time, typically not too busy, and there are gorgeous views from every angle. I love the mix of white sandy beach with dramatic black rocks. Not to mention the gorgeous cliff and mountain backdrops.

Megan’s family is as wonderful as she is! Free spirited, three-year-old Maddy, kept me on my toes and 4 month old Benji couldn’t have been more chill. And, can we talk about those cheeks! These cute little kiddos made the shoot a breeze and it was so fun capturing this sweet little family of four!
