The Kawahara Family | Makapu’u Lookout and Beach

MAKAPU’U LOOKOUT FAMILY SESSION

I met beautiful Lauren, Josh, and baby Lillie through another mama I had the opportunity to photograph, Megan! Josh is Megan’s husband’s brother. In fact, there were all visiting Oahu together, and we photographed their sessions at Makapu’u Lookout and Beach, back to back. This location is a little drive from Waikiki, but worth the effort as the drive through Hawaii Kai is beautiful and the beaches on the southeast side are much quieter.

We started with this little family of three at Makapu’u Lookout just as the sun was dipping behind the cliffs. The ocean was a vibrant aqua and we had the most beautiful lighting! Lauren and Josh were down for an adventure and didn’t mind hiking out on the rocks to get those stellar views. Baby Lillie, just 5 months old a the time, was so smiley and happy the entire time. We spent half of the session up at the lookout, then drove down to Makapu’u Beach. It’s a little walk from the parking lot, but I love this location because there is so much variety and including the most gorgeous strip of white sand beach, backed by those green Hawaiian mountains.

This family has such great style – Lillie gets it from her mama! I always love a long flowing maxi dress and I think it’s so fun to add pattern! You can’t go wrong with a sweet baby onsie. And, guys always look good in button down shirts.
