Savannah & Matt | Makua Beach, Oahu

What can I say about this lovely couple?! Savannah and I connected via Instagram, and even though she’s a Minnesota girl and fellow photographer, we met in beautiful Oahu for a sunrise session on film with her hubby, and business partner, Matt. I generally avoid getting up early, but a sunrise session at my absolute favorite beach? COUNT ME IN!

We started a Makua Beach. It’s almost at the very end of the road on Oahu’s far west side, which means there’s no houses or buildings, very little traffic, and even fewer people. It’s a long sandy beach with rocks and tide pools on either end, and it’s surrounded by mountains, so the views are fantastic in every direction. After shooting at Makua, we drove to Yokomo Bay (also known as The Yokes), which is literally the very last beach on the road.

Special thanks to Savannah and Matt for making the trek all the way out to the west side. It’s basically like driving across a state in mainland terms! Not only were they up for whatever I suggested, but Savannah and Matt were super fun to photograph – they are so in love and not afraid to show it!

My biggest advice to couples – just have fun, kiss, hug, and love it up! Don’t focus on the camera; focus on each other. Savannah and Matt did just that, and I think their images are as bubbly, vibrant, and beautiful as they are! (Want more tips for your upcoming shoot? Click here!)
