Meet the Diamond Ohana! I connected with mom, Andi, who is also a photographer based in Tampa Florida, via Instagram, and she hired me to hop over the beautiful Big Island to document her adorable Ohana.

I did lots of research and had a few locations in mind for their shoot, but location scouting is a bit different when I’m not on my home island of Oahu! I flew in extra early the day of the shoot, not only to have a little downtime to go enjoy some of my fav spots in Kona, but also to scope out shoot locations in person. Beach conditions are weather are always changing on the islands, so I like to see things the day of. When I drove up to Old Kona Airport Beach, I knew it was the perfect spot – a calm evening with beautiful palms, lots of lava rock, and the gentle slopes of Kona in the distance. Andi had requested something different than the white sand beaches of Tampa, and I thought this beach would deliver!

The location was beautiful, but the real beauty was in the love this little Ohana brought to their shoot! Andi and her husband, Pete, and their kids Ethan and Emory were all so sweet, all smiles, and game for lots of hugs and laughter. I seriously had the best time working with them – one of those perfect evenings where I’m driving away and I have to pinch myself because it is such a joy and honor to get to do what a do! Truly a gift!
