The Kawahara Ohana at Halona Cove

I just adore this sweet little ohana! I originally met the Kawaharas in 2019 for our first family session together at Makapu’u Beach. You can see that session right here! Mom, Megan, who is also a film photographer (click here to see her gorgeous work), hired me again when they returned to Oahu in 2021 and we opted for sunrise at Kailua Beach Park. This session in 2022 was my third time photographing them, and what an honor and a privilege it is!! I am seriously so blessed to be trusted with their family memories x3. It’s so cool to see the kids grow (like, what is time?!?!), and this latest session even included the newest member of the family, sweet baby girl Charlie!

Since we had already done a couple sessions on Oahu, we wanted to find a new spot, and Halona Cove is one of my favs. It’s perfect at sunrise with pretty pastel colors, and we had the beach all to ourselves. It’s a short hike down, but a beautiful little cove surrounded by dramatic cliffs from every angle. There is a small sandy beach with vibrant waters and the waves can be small and calm, or big and wild, depending on the time of year.
