Some of the best things about getting married on Oahu are the gorgeous natural landscapes, stunning views, and pristine beaches! Shea and Nathan took full advantage, hiring me to capture their meticulously planned wedding celebration, spread out over two days.
I love that this couple did things their way, 100%! Typically, we do couples photos on the day of the wedding, but Shea and Nathan knew they wanted an epic hike-to location, and they didn’t want to be restricted to shooting nearby their ceremony. So we opted to do their photos the day before their wedding day! They chose the Crouching Lion hike, as this location was the perfect way to honor their love of adventure and nature! It’s not an easy climb to the top, but with the help of Shea’s brothers, carrying her dress and bouquet from Lulu’s Lei and Bouquets, we made it!
Once we got up to the top, Shea and Nathan changed into their wedding attire, where luckily, we had the entire area to ourselves. It was the perfect afternoon and we caught the last remnants of the golden, glowing sun before it dipped behind the mountains.
After finishing shooting at the top, we hiked back down, just in time to catch the last bits of light over Kahana Bay. I always love finishing on the beach when we can. Even though this side of the island doesn’t afford direct views of the sunset, we usually still get beautiful, soft, pastel colors in the sky around sunset time.
Stay tuned for Day 2 of Shea and Nathan’s wedding celebration at Laie Hawaii Temple and Laie Beach.
