OAHU ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER | KOKO CRATER BOTANICAL GARDENS

Today marks my five month anniversary on my new island home of Oahu. It feels like yesterday and a lifetime ago, simultaneously. I moved knowing absolutely no one on the island, but I’ve slowly been making friends thanks to good ol’ Instagram. Social media has been a powerful tool to connect with other photographers, wedding industry peers, and creatives.

I came across Wild Fern on Instagram, and quickly began following. They were hosting a styled shoot a few weeks after I moved to Hawaii and I jumped at the chance to sign up! Styled shoots are a great way to meet people, learn new things, and to hone your craft. I’m always striving to improve, even after more than a decade as a wedding photographer.

This shoot was an absolute dream! And, proves there is soooo much more to Hawaii than just gorgeous beaches. This desert botanical garden could be straight out of the Southwest! Colby from Wanderer Weddings is such a sweetheart and pulled out all the stops designing the look and feel of this shoot. J’Adore Floral killed it on the colorful bouquet and haku floral crown. Swoon! Really, every vendor was amazing, and the other photographers that participated were super fun and welcoming. Building a network in a new state is no easy feat, but it’s opportunities like this that jump start the process. So, big, big thanks to Wild Fern for hosting the party!
