It was such an honor to be a part of Amy & Todd’s intimate elopement at Makapu’u Beach. The couple are lifelong residents of Oahu, and they wanted that perfect, epic spot on their home island to host a wedding ceremony with their closest family and friends. Amy didn’t want your typical, touristy Hawaiian beach. It was also important that the location be easily accessible for their grandparents, who would be flying in from Japan for the occassion. Makapu’u is an incredible choice, easy to access, yet featuring dramatic cliffs and green mountains, black lava rock, and of course, incredible views of the surrounding ocean. This location is on the east side of the island, so after the late afternoon sun hides behind the mountain, the lighting is soft and beautiful.
The bride and groom had a short and sweet ceremony up on the cliffs! Amy & Todd also brought along their sweet little Shiba Inu. It would’ve been impossible to celebrate their love and the beginning of their married life without their precious dog by their sides. He donned his own little custom-made suit to match Todd’s. Amy sewed it herself!
In lieu of rings, which the couple planned to get on a future trip to Japan, Amy & Todd exchanged Pokemon cards. It was such a fun and joyful touch to make the ceremony even more personal. Thanks to Ashlee of Heartfelt Ceremonies for officiating!
