I just adore this sweet little family! This was my fifth shoot with them and I’m so grateful and honored to have documented them over the years, starting in 2019 when their second child, Benj, was just a newborn. It’s so crazy to see how the kids have grown! Mom, Megan, is a fellow film photographer based in San Jose, California area. We just clicked from our very first shoot together! She also introduced me to her sister-in-law and brother-in-law and their family – another of my now long time clients.

This was one of my favorite shoots with the Kawaharas to date! We always try to choose new and different locations, all while keeping it close to their accommodations to make it easy for the kids. No one wants to drive too far for a sunrise session that starts at 6:00 or 7:00 AM! This spot, Sandy Beach, is the perfect place for sunrise, because it faces due east, and provides direct views of the sun rising, and the soft, pastel skies that usually accompany it. We got lucky, and had a beautiful morning in Hawaii. Pastel skies, a beautiful sunrise, and very little wind. Sandy Beach is famous for its huge waves that break on the shore line, so while it’s not safe for swimming, it makes for dramatic waves and kids always seem to love splashing around here! The two older kids especially loved watching the waves and we gave them time to run around and have fun between getting lots of photos.
Mahalo to Meg and Andrew, and your entire crew! Can’t wait to see you guys again soon!
